I just purchased the 430 EX ll, (flash newbie) if I set the FE lock to store the needed setting for the lighting conditions during that particular shoot , will the flash work the same for all of the photos during my shoot? Or does it have to be reset every time I compose a shot? Is this setting removed when I turn off the flash, if not is there a way to reset it to the default settings? Hope this makes sense.

The FEL retains the exposure setting for as long as you hold down the "*" or FEL button or for 6 or so seconds after the button is released. WIth the former, you can take as many pictures as you wish using the same flash exposure setting as long as the "*" or FEL button is held down. With the latter, the locked flash exposure is good for one or more shots as long as you don't fully let off on the shutter button.
