If there is a 50D on its way, you can bet you lenses that it will cost way more than the XSI. I would just go for the XSI or another XT especially for concerts knowing it would get bashed around at times. Everyday, a programmer finds a way of creating an idiotproof program. If you want to do macro as a large/important part of your photography experience, then a 40D should be the lowest in the line camera you should consider.

Not big into macro, but maybe some flower shooting once in a while. XSI is suppose to have a brighter viewfinder from what i've read. Well I went ahead and ordered the XSI with extended warranty from buydig after seeing it a best buy last nite. I will wait and see what the 50D has to offer...Thanks for the help guys! If you already own a camera, it seem rather foolish to buy a new body as an interim solution, when the economic half life of dSLRs is about 2 years You need to give me OK to edit your image and repost! I don't mind upgrading my cameras every 3 years + the XSI was a steal. If the 50D appeals to me the XSI will be my backup. Cameras: Fuji S3(SOLD)/Nikon D70s(SOLD)/

Oh wait..... ![]() It's kind of hard to compare the XSi with a camera that is unlikely to be announced until next February. 12 MP APS-C vs who knows? 3.5 fps vs. who knows? etc etc The 40D isjust 12 months old. Canon has not replaced a prosumer dSLR in 12 months since the D60. Not comparing I know the 40D is one hell of a camera as should be the 50D. I just don't need one right now. I don't shoot sports, so I don't need anything that fast and HEAVY. Cameras: Fuji S3(SOLD)/Nikon D70s(SOLD)/

That has been the trend from 20D>30D>40D... so I wouldn't expect the premature 50D to be any smaller or lighter. Canon 40D ■ 10-22mm ■ 24-105L ■ 580 EX II
