All I can say.. it's amazing.

Huge would begin to describe it.

I only upgraded from a 22" Samsung TN Panel to the 2408 but wow the extra screen real estate is quite amazing.

Anyone else upgrade their hardware lately and want to brag about it/ask questions? =)

I'm picking up my Samsung 245T on Saturday.... coming from a 17" Samsung TN panel, though, so I'm expecting a heck of a shock when I have both up and running ;)

Where did you get the samsung? I am also looking for one, but I don't want to order over the net. Nobody in my city carries any high-end monitors. However, I'm willing to drive a couple of hours to get one retail.

Unfortunately, I can't find retailers who carry them. Any suggestions?

A couple of questions when you get it. Chatter in forums about the 245T is about a distracting audible buzz when used in a quiet room. Also, some reviews say brightness is inconsistent across the panel. Let us know about these things with yours.

Is your 2408 an A00 or an A01? My Dell rep told me that A01 models are now available but the screen I just ordered for someone here in the office ended up being an A00.

This (external link) will be helpful determining the 2408 revision status.

I just checked per the website listed above, and yes, my firmware (sharpness increases by 10 point intervals) is the A01 revision.

Not sure yet, Im waiting to get some kind of calibration software/hardware. I haven't done enough research yet to do an educated purchase.

I know what you mean; I just jumped from a 19" 4:3 Dell TN monitor to an HP L2335 23" S-IPS 16:9 monitor... W O W what a difference!

Now, just to figure out why my Spyder2 isn't being recognized... :( (just got the Spyder, never used one before)

I picked mine up in person from Sydney... not much help to you! $699 was an irresistable price, though, well below the $950-odd that this screen retails for from pretty much everywhere else in Australia.

I found the audible buzz that reviews were talking about - if you stand behind it there's a buzz that you can hear from the top right side (if you're looking at it from the front). If you stick your head up against the back of the monitor it's fairly loud.

Fortunately, as I look at mine from the front it hasn't proved to be a problem at all. Even turning the music off and sitting here in the silent room (computer makes almost zero noise... Sonata FTW) I can't hear it. Total non-issue for me. Maybe I got lucky. Were it to be a good deal louder, though, I can see how it would be very annoying. It's not like an electronic whine, either.. it's more of a buzz.

Beautiful monitor so far! Can't wait to get my hands on a calibration tool :D No issues with brightness shift across the panel. The tone and colour are miles ahead of my old Samsung 172x and that monitor isn't bad at all...

Thank you very much for taking the time to post notes. Please let us know how it calibrates.

I am also looking at the new HP S-IPS monitor that will become available in Sept. With that one, tho, they are also releasing a calibration tool at the same time. I have been unable to determine if the monitor can be calibrated by third party tools - don't know why it could not - or if for some reason you need to use theirs. (I think I read somewhere theirs will cost $329 (tool, not monitor!))

Thanks, I will look into this. I did check the best buy site a while back, but it said the more-expensive 8-bit panel types were not available retail - only online - at least at our local store.
