Here are a couple of pics I was fortunate to be able to take a few weeks ago when I caught a ride on a KC-135. I had my 40D with a 17-55mm / 2.8 lens with me. The Boomer was going back to refuel 2 F-15's so I waved my camera at him and he waved me back. What a rush!! In the bottome photo the pilot spots me taking photos and gives me a shaka. A common hand gesture in Hawaii.

I don't know exactly, but I don't think it is much. I seen just a little 1 sec spray when it detached.

A great catch. They used to say getting a great shot depends on "F/16, & be there!"

Yeah, it really does help to have a great subject. I have been on these flights before, but have never been allowed to photo. Maybe I dazzled the boomer by waving a 40D instead of a PS just as much as the F-15 dazzled me?
