Haven't posted for a long while been moving. Took these shots of the grandkids at the beach. The sun of course was over the water. So some harsh lighting. Changed them to b&W. What are your thoughts on them?

I like the edits. I think B&W works good for these because of the lighting and lack of color in the originals.

#2, I would have taken out the bits in the top right as well.

#3, I like the staring off into the ocean - better than my 2yr old who just tries to run right into it...

Thanks for sharing

I will clone the rake and shovel out I agree it really doesn't do anything for the picture. Should I crop some of the foreground out of the first one?

Umm... I like the crop fine, just think the rake and shovel are kinda distracting.

The first shot, reworked, is just great. I love the composition, and your tonal range, exposure and interest level are all great.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the comments on the first wasn't sure about the crop so I think I will keep it that way.Planning on printing that one. Glad you liked the tonal range never sure with that I tried to get what brings out the subject I want to show.So I am glad that worked.

I think that you did a very good job of rescuing the first image. I prefer pictures that show peoples faces rather than their hind ends.
