The enzyme found in green kiwifruit also makes for a natural meat tenderizer. Simply peel and mash a kiwifruit and spread the pulp on a tough cut of meat. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes; then, lightly scrape the kiwifruit off the meat, discarding the kiwi.

So if you have tough salmon...adding some kiwi will soften it right up!

if it comes from NZ it's called ZESPRIā„¢ Kiwifruit (http://www.zesprikiwi.com/ (external link))

I'm not sure which brand we get here. The few times I've tried it, the taste has been a bit sour.

First day of school tomorrow. Been busy keeping the kids at least somewhat under control as they try to cram everything they didn't do all summer into the last few hours of freedom.

As a real newbie, I have felt welcomed by all on the website. I know a couple of people personally. The only problem I have come across is learning everyone's name, since not everyone posts it in their signature.

On the advice of John, I will continue to stay away from the Gear Forum though
