Thank you all for posting your thoughts about the question I raised yesterday. No changes have been proposed nor are any being considered. Merging RRTP and TPBM is off the table for now. Hopefully the discussion has elevated everyone's awareness about how some people are made to feel when they wander into what is seemingly a closed discussion: I'm confident we'll be more sensitive to making sure we don't inadvertently hurt anyone's feelings in the future. Now, for the good news.... I had a chance to take some photos today. In fact I took a lot of shots---almost 400 of them. We were at the Bolsa Chica wetlands in Huntington Beach, and there were a number of birds feeding in the shallow water. There were also a couple pelicans alternately wading and swimming around. I was shooting the 100-400L on the 1D Mk III, and of the roughly 400 shots, not one was in focus. Not one. I suspect the lens, but until I try another lens on the Mk III, and try the 100-400 on another body, I won't know what the problem is. I am absolutely livid right now. Looks like I'll get a chance to see what this CPS membership is going to work out. We're supposed to be going back there in less than two weeks with a group from POTN, and I'd really love to have that combo available. 400 shots. 400 out of focus. I think I might take up macramé. That's really crappy. Nikon lenses are like Chuck Norris - they don't focus, they make the world come in to focus Nope, not without. . . Ahah, but you missed out the new requirements of National Insurance #, bank details, and mother's maiden name. D7100, 50mm f/1.8, 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6, 70-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VR, SB800

I remember when people first started reporting problems with the M3 and I thought that it was all operator error. Nowadays, my first reaction is, "Oh, THAT camera." If Canon ever makes a MIIIn, they should GIVE one to every MIII owner for free. I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

If Canon ever makes a MIIIn, they should GIVE one to every MIII owner for free. This is probably my most frustrating photographic experience. This goes right up there with losing the tripod with the Wimberly head on it. I'm not sure where the problem is.....it's either lens or body, but I intend to find out this morning. Whichever it is, it will go into Canon today. I'm going back to the same place on the 13th, and that's the camera/lens I planned on using most. ISO Boz wrote in post #6231609 I am very new here. But I have been on-line since before some of you were born! It is very easy to read into posts what isn't really there. To quote one of the worst managers I have ever had the experience of working for. "It isn't what you said that matters. It is what someone thinks you said that matters" As much as I hate to agree with her she is right. So we hurt people's feelings and put people off when we don't really mean to. Simple as that. So we need to be careful of others feelings. And when we are hurt we need to step back and realize that the person probably didn't really mean to hurt us. When you feel you've been slighted, perception is reality. Of course that swings both ways; it's almost as unfair to the people who mean no harm, but are accused of committing deliberate snubs. I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
