you guys are great! Half the questions I ask in here, I'd be embarrassed to ask elsewhere :o:lol:

Remember Jenn said that her mom said "the only stupid questions is the one you didn't ask"?

:lol: I read in a doctor's office magazine that people our age (who are relatively inactive) are buying the wii's and actually getting some aerobic exercise.

I want one Lisa ..I think they are fun and I'm all about fun and I hate most exercise so fun would make it better at least it might make me to try

my daughter said she was boxing and playing tennis on one with a friend and never thought much about the exercise part until the next morning when she woke up extremely sore. I hadn't really thought much about them either (even after reading the article) until she mentioned that. She also said they were loads of fun. So either way it sounds like a plan

I'm going to go pick up my fair entries today. I wasn't going to do it until tomorrow but we're heading up there to go to a store so I'm going to do it. I also plan on, should the opportunity arise, talking to the gal about the judging. I realize it'll sound like I'm a poor loser and that's okay but if they are going to score based on size, they should tell people that up front.

Scored on size? I always enter the maximum allowable size.

I didn't. I'd never done it before so I didn't know to do that. But when I went to look at what made it in, I was shocked. The majority of the photos were large and while there were very good ones there, there were many that were not and the only reason they could have made it in was size...

I wish I'd known about the max size. Perhaps then they might have been judged more equitably

Sorry to hear that Chief. Hopefully they'll figure it out and get it back in time.

Can anyone tell me what blue ray dvd is? And do you have to have a special dvd player to play one? (I feel like I close my eyes for a day and something new is out that I don't know what it is..)

One thing about blue ray is that you need an HD TV that's fairly large with 1080p to be able to see a noticeable improvement.

I just found out that 3 of my 4 fair entries were accepted for display! This one received a "Judge's Choice" award (I edited out the orange construction fence in the one I printed, I just can't find where I saved that version right now ):

Congratulations, they are nice photos.

DAVID!! WTG! (and hearty congratulations :) I'm glad that your judges weren't duds!

Thanks!

my kids seem to think the nintendo wii is better than the playstation 3. Does the playstation 3 have actually physical interaction like the wii does?

I'm quite the geek , and voted for the Wii over the PS3 for the additional physical activity. The kids can find ways around some of it, but it's not as much fun that way. I can say that the Wii Fit balance board was probably part of the reason I lost some weight this summer, and will definitely help on those not so wonderful fall and winter days that we have here on an all too regular basis.

The only part that isn't fun is when your 6 year old, who is flailing his arms around like a wild man, beats you regularly at Wii Bowling by a wide margin, and remains the owner of the highest score in the house months after we bought the thing.

I entered 12X18 images, which was just smaller than the max (16X20 including matting, I think).

Sorry, had to go finish the lawn. I needed Wool's tractor. ;) Maybe you could go use Dan's account for a while to even things out. :p
