I had totally NOT thought about it.... but I did it all in my pitiful spanish!!!! My co-worker (bilingual) who is originally from Costa Rica (and taught me everything I know) was laughing hysterically because I had done it all in Spanish. I asked what she was laughing at.... she said she didn't know I had THAT in me! hehehehehehehe She said I taught you well! Once she was there... I had her help me with a few more things that needed to be said that didn't fit in my phrases I knew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jenn, gone back to novice photographer...

Some of my best spanish has come in situations where I have thought the least about it. The first time I realized I was capable of confidently carrying on conversation with native speakers, I was asked a question and I automatically responded in Spanish with out realizing it until they said "Wow your spanish has gotten a lot better"

It used to be you could at least see the judging sheets...but most places have stopped doing that. A typical score sheet has four categories. Visual Impact 0----------20----------40 Composition 0----------15----------30 Technical Quality 0----------10----------20 Workmanship 0----------5----------10 Maximum Score = 100 Now to explain how the judging can go so fast...as you notice, there is a score in the middle of each column. In standard judging, if a print receives a score to the left of center in any category, the print is rejected and scoring stops...Scores to the right of center are tallied and the highest score wins...and so on down the line...in the event of a tie...the image with the highest score at the top of the sheet wins....(two prints score 90...print A scores 36 in Visual Impact, print B scores 38 in Visual Impact...print B wins) The three judges at the Oregon State Fair did not use that form. I would guess that it took an average of 6 or 7 seconds to judge each photo. Each judge could award a minimum of 1 point and a maximum of 9 I believe. A helper would place a photo on the easel, the judges would vote, the photo would be stored and another put on the easel. They were doing 2 or 3 per minute.
