Chief, when I lived outside of Vegas I had a wind break around my property which consisted of the same little scrub trees lining the RR tracks in your pano. Do you know the name of the trees.... I can't seem to remember. It seems like they were Aethol or something like that.

No, I don't know what they're called, but they're really ugly. Apparently they do their job, but aesthetically, they're really sad.

I'll try to find out what they're called, but not tonight.

I'm going to bed.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Dood....you need to get yourself mobile. A license is getting more and more important with each passing day. Not being able to drive effects you on many levels. Time to sign up and get it done!

I don't think it really matters if I shoot in RAW or JPEG... I'll probably end up standing in the corner either way.

This is totally me..... It doesn't matter one way or the other.... the shots are still just mediocre snaps at best.....

Doooooood!!!! Go get your license.... it would likely help you get a job! I guess I can't related.... the day I turned 16 was the day I went and stood at the DMV to get my license... at 7:30am... I went to school late that day hehehehehe but I drove myself there!!!!!!!

I was playing around with my pano head a couple days ago, and came up with this. It's an absolutely uninteresting photo that was taken from the top floor of the parking garage at the Agua Caliente Casino. The slope in the photo is correct, btw. The shot is (generally) facing east towards Indio, and the Salton Sea beyond.

If you're interested in the full size (i.e. highly compressed), it's here (external link). You might have to click on it to get the full size image. Warning....It's a 1.2mb file.

Sweet pano, Chief!

I have to say, tho', that desert looks pretty inhospitable. I half expected to see Wool's Lunar Pinto rolling around there.

I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

I ran them down to the printer...and of course their printer is acting up....not a very good testimonial for the Epson R-9880. They printed better on my cheap HP. They have a technician coming in to see what is wrong with it.

Thanks for the update. Keep me posted.

Chances are those are tamarisk, an invasive "weed" from Africa that transpires absolutely HUGE volumes of water and keeps those washes dry most of the year.

That sounds right.

That DWilkin is a pretty smart guy. He must be related to me in some way.

Thanks, that sounds right to me too. They were not very tall, maybe 20 feet, and the branches grew every which way, but the branches were thick. They were good at capturing tumble weeds as they came tumbling along in the frequent desert winds.

When In-N-Out first came to the San Diego area people were falling all over themselves to get their food. When I finally decided to try it, I found it to be a typical mediocre fast food hamburger. We have a chain here called Boll Weevil that makes a much better burger. And it's a table service restaurant which I much prefer...

One of the best places in town is Hodads (external link) in Ocean Beach. This place makes the biggest burgers I have ever seen... Scroll down.
