When In-N-Out first came to the San Diego area people were falling all over themselves to get their food. When I finally decided to try it, I found it to be a typical mediocre fast food hamburger. We have a chain here called Boll Weevil that makes a much burger. And it's a table service restaurant which I much prefer...

I don't know about Boll Weevil, but I heartily agree about In-N-Out's food. I actually dislike their fries, and the burgers are just so-so. The only 'fast food' I really like are breakfast sandwiches at MacDonalds.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I was playing around with my pano head a couple days ago, and came up with this. It's an absolutely uninteresting photo that was taken from the top floor of the parking garage at the Agua Caliente Casino. The slope in the photo is correct, btw. The shot is (generally) facing east towards Indio, and the Salton Sea beyond.

QUOTED IMAGE

If you're interested in the full size (i.e. highly compressed), it's here (external link). You might have to click on it to get the full size image. Warning....It's a 1.2mb file.

wow, nice stitch job on this!
I love those kind of hills. Until I'd gone down to Palm Springs, I'd never seen anything like them...

Insomnia is the only reason I'm here tonight. We've had a couple long, grueling days, and Lois wanted to go to bed early tonight. She fell right asleep, but I was still too wound up for that, so I came out and stitched these photos I took a couple days ago during a lull.

I'd like to try it again, but with some pains. There's no sharpening at all on this, and I think it could be improved. I left the color deliberately golden because it was just before sunset, and that's how it looked.

hope everything is okay Chief!

hahaha :) paper goes in the 'optional' battery grip with built in print head

Ya mean like they did with their NoteJet computers back in the '90s? Cool idea - built a sheet-feed inkjet printer under the laptop. One version even had it removable for lighter weight or you could replace it with just a CD-ROM drive and set of speakers.

How many times did your gas tank explode?

Controlled burn. What do you think he was using for propulsion?

Ok I know several of you here use Ligthroom so I was wondering if you could help me decide if I should buy it. I was about to order the upgrade to CS4 and noticed that if I buy Lightroom 2 at the same time I get 30% discount.

So what is your favorite feature of Ligthroom ?

What does it have that CS3/4/Bridge does not have ?

I will probably get the trial version and check it out but thought I would get some comments from you guys first

lightroom is nice but anymore I live in CS3 so if I were to do it all over again, I'd probably just go with CS3. (I'm kind of frustrated with the new additions to lightroom....they are really hit and miss for working...i.e. the new brush tool does a terrible job of lightening in spots...and the gradient really seems to be useless to me....and lightroom still isn't handling noise well). Anyway it's just an opinion.

If you don't do extensive edits though, then I'd go with lightroom and skip CS4...but if you are already going to get CS4...

truthfully, I only use lightroom as a photobrowser anymore & to correct red-eye because I don't know how to do that in photoshop. Thanks to some help in here, I discovered that ACR can edit both jpg and raw so I don't need the highlight tool (which was the only other thing I did do in lightroom).

However, Dan uses it almost exclusively, because he doesn't do extensive editing as a rule. So it's just a matter of preference.

I don't see any need for PS unless you are a heavy duty graphic designer...I use Elements and Lightroom to handle most any processing chore. LR has a fantastic organization feature...and it is very easy to find stuff with it based the available tools...it makes keywording simple. You can also do very simple batch conversions with it. LR allows you to import or develop your own processing presets, that you can save and use over and over...very nice feature. Definitely much more intuitive and user friendly than Bridge.

That should be a very special visit. Enjoy.

Thanks. Photoshop took care of everything.

lol, I completely agree with your opinion on it as a browser though...lightroom is great for organizing etc. and much better than bridge. I wish they'd update that.

To be honest...I think LR is worth the money just for the organizing feature. You want pictures taken with a 24-70? Just scroll down...you can find them. That is way cool.

I love Lightroom... Scott is going to help me download Elements and show me how to use it. I can't imagine ever needing anything more for my purposes.... except maybe Topaz and some of the other cool filters some of you use.

Lisa, I thought you had left... have a safe trip when you do go.

Elements equipped with a few well chosen filters and tools...NIK, Topaz, Neat Image, Fractalius....will do virtually anything that Photoshop will...for a whole lot less money and a lot less hassle. I am sure that some folks need all the features of PS....but for about 95% of us it is total overkill.

I use LR for > 95% of my editing. As Dan said, if you don't do extensive edits, you don't really need PS. The only time I go to PS is if I have a lot of cloning to do or need to create a special multi image layout.

My favorite took in LR is the TAT, Target Adjustment Tool. In the Hue, Saturation, Luminance panel you click on the TAT, click in a spot you want to adjust the image and drag it up or down. It is great for adjusting the hue of something, like a sky or grass, that doesn't have the tone you are looking for. It also works in grayscale as an easy Channel Mixer.

With the added output sharpening I just don't use PS anymore. I still have CS2.

The thing I dislike about LR is how resource hungry it is. I need a new PC to make it run smoother (mine is a few years old anyway so regardless of LR it needs upgrading).
