I just found this on the web somehow, and laughed at a couple of the photographers in the picture. This is an amazing pano.

I thought most pros didn't use lens hoods in situations like that to avoid getting in each other's way.

That's quite a collection of glass (and talented sports photographers) though!

Well, on most of that big glass, the lens hoods are built in I think.

They might look like that, but they are not. All lenses from 200/1.8 to 600/4 have detachable hoods.
