I recently purchased this lens and have been enjoying it so far. Here is a series that I tried the other day. In hindsight, I am wondering if I should have used something to reflect light from the window to fill up the image. Any thoughts and C&C would be appreciated.

congratulations on your new lens! The first two aren't too interesting since we are looking at the back of his head and a curtain and the third would be nice if his face wasn't so dark. You are right in that a reflector would have been helpful. He is supercute and I know that if you photograph him when he gives you a bit more eye contact or in a profile that allows the viewer to see more of his face, the image will be a lot more interesting. Hope this helps ;)

1&2 are blown out and it seems like the hair is the only thing in focus.

#3 is not bad but pretty soft.

i know its hard to resist shooting wide open when you first get this lens but its soo easy to miss focus when your depth of field is paper thin.imo it takes a bit to get used to this lens.

"A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind."
