I just discovered that I had it, don't know much about lenses.

Here's the info I found:

Canon Lens FD 50mm 1:1.8 S.C.

Is it any good and will it work on my XSi?

Thanks

bottom line no...you need an ef or ef-s mount...FD is for older film cameras

you can get an adapter...but i doubt it's worth it

Yes, it is good, and no, unfortunately it won't work on your XSi.

I'd suggest you get the Canon EF 50 F/1.8 II, which is about $80, and although much more cheaply made, it has the same optics with slightly better coatings.

If you'd want something as sturdy and as well made, consider buying a used 50 F/1.8 with metal bayonet, the Mk I, probably sells around $150 in good working order, provided you can find one.

Kind regards, Wim
