In the always interesting search for cheap gems, I found this at a pawn shop for $10...an ebay seller claims it's made by Tamron...I don't know that for a fact, but the results bear out that it's not your typical sub-$100 lens...if you find one you might want to pick it up...

As you say, it looks like a pretty solid performer optically for a $10 lens, but the second 100% crop does show a bit more sharpening than I think is necessary. I would expect any lens to be sharp at f/10 though, and I think most people would be very happy to live with the extra features of a newer lens.

What are its focal length range and max. apertures?

I'd not seen nor heard of this lens or the Kodak gear brand before this week...thought it'd be of interest to others...it focuses crisply without hunting and other than some vignetting wide open, it should appeal to those looking for a useable budget (and light-weight) lens. Seems like a good hiking lens for instance.
The specs from an ebay listing of the lens with a Nikon mount....As for evidence of oversharpening, yes it shows up because I didn't do any further post processing other than the USM...a little NR would take care of it. I'll go back and see what I can do about it...(tho to some it's no big deal seeing some 'grain' there)...
• Zoom range: 80mm-210mm
• Aperture range: f/4.5-5.6-22
• Angle of view: 30 degrees to 12 degrees
• Lens construction: 8 elements in 9 groups
[I've seen it listed as 9 elements in 8 groups]
• Minimum focusing distance: 4.9 feet (1.5 meters)
• Macro reproduction: 1:5.8
• Filter size: 52mm
• Length: 3.84", 97.5mm
• Diameter: 2.8", 71mm
• Weight: 9.9 oz, 280 grams

Actually, I look for the raunchy pawns with old film lenses collecting dust...the 'decent' stores' pricing is not much different from ebay (I'm sure they check there for prices), but the market for older film gear (and gear that can still be used on Dslr bods), is something the stores don't know much about and it just isn't a very easy sell anymore...more of such gear is coming in and staying on the shelf longer these days...

And there are so many pawnshops...it's not like you have to go out of your way to look in on them...you never know what you'll find, you know...my list of finds include the XT below (free after selling the 18-55 and 75-300 that came with it,) a $70 10s film camera that had a 50/2.5 CM on it (also still on hand), a $10 50/2 Nikkor and a $5 2x Vivitar M42 teleconverter...not to mention the thrift shop D30/50mm/1.8 that first got me moved from Nikon to Canon in the first place, for $90 and since ebayed...
