Perhaps it was a result of anxiety.

I always do a thorough count prior to leaving any spot however the irony sinks deep in that i really couldn't tell you how many lenses i own so the counting is obviously some weird obsessive compulsive thing. It gets me by.

I lost the front cap of my 70-300 IS once.

I found it in my jean's left pocket. I normally put it in the right pocket. Gad I found it... :)

That gets me too sometimes :)

Good luck with finding your lens Pricey.

Pricey, I know exactly how you feel. I lost the eyecup for my Rebel XT. Feels like a part of me is missing. :(

My mate also lost his Sigma 24-70 2.8 (Nikon mount) and couldn't remember where he had it last and need it as he is a semi pro. He ended up buying a new one and just writing the other one off.

Knock on wood, the worse thing I have lost is a 2gb card and a canon cap.

I guess that if you've decorated your flat in all white, maybe you should be shooting Nikon...

I lost my SD650 (Canon P&S) once. I remembered exactly where I had last used it but couldn't find it anywhere. Figured that it's so tiny, it must have fallen out of my bag on the way to/from the car (I'd taken it to a softball game) and I hadn't noticed. I looked for it several times over the next couple of months and finally gave up. I bought an SD800 to replace it. Sure enough soon after that I found the SD650 in an obscure compartment in one of the bags I'd taken to the softball game. Now I have two tiny P&S cameras! So, the obvious solution to your problem is to buy a replacement lens, and the first one will undoubtedly come out from wherever it has been hiding soon thereafter.

Sorry but this is possibly the funniest thread ever. How do you just loose a lens?

I have a friend who lost a canoe.......in the bush.....yeah...
