Took this on the beach in VA. Did I blow this picture by not getting the football in the frame?

That's pretty annoying having that sideways isn't it? Let's fix that.

Oh, I thought they were catching a falling baby from a burning building.... errrr I think the ball in the frame could help the picture.

yes it would help as this looks like beach volleyball at first glance, until you start wondering why she is wearing gloves and flags on their hips. In addition to no ball, the BG is way too cluttered. Perhapas look for a better position to shoot from to minimize this.

Apply a little sharpening. I think they look fine. Your second one is easier to follow.

maybe show him the picture and show him how to properly secure the football?

I thought the first was beach volleyball at a glance too...
Ball in frame, less cluttered bg, and a little bit sharper, then you'll be fine.

There aren't very many uncluttered backgrounds on the beach during the East Coast Surfing Championships. I'm a little upset that the ball isn't in the frame, but I anticipated. Oh well, thanks for the replies.

What about standing next to the boardwalk and shooting towards the water?
