Removing an EXIF value from JPEG files?

I'm using PhotoStitch that came with the G6 for some panorama exercises. I found that setting different focal lenghts modifies the "banana" effect of the stitched image. But as soon as the software recognises "G6", the input box is inaccessible.

Question: is there any way to delete only the camera type info from JPEG files?

Take a look at ExifUtils. You might not have the ability to delete it but rather make it a blank entry. Or you may find that modifying the current value is a good thing...

I dont think there are any free utilities that let you change, but there are plenty that let you read exif data. Also far as Photostich ( which I had with my G3 ) , what is the banana effect setting you speak of. I've never had to use it, and If i shot the picture straight to start with i wouldnt get the very obtuse curve.

ExifUtils does let you edit with a few restrictions, and has a free version.

There are at least 2 other Exif programs that let you edit, but I completely forget their names.

Scottes: you were right, EXIFutils (freeware version) from www.hugsan.com does it beautifully, and what's more, it comes with exemplary manuals. It wasn't enough to delete the model field alone, but I just deleted all meta data for PhotoStitch to allow me to set my own preference of focal length.

I copied all jpegs in a separate folder "test" and added a batchfile "meta_ex.bat", containing a separate command line each "exifedit /e a [file name].jpg". Then I went into Start/cmd/; volume:; cd test; meta_ex.bat; - and all was well (forget some superfluous backup files).

kb244: with the banana effect I mean slight variations along the upper and lower border of the stitch (one row of 13 shots) - obviously from minor misalignment on shooting. I don't really understand yet what the focal length in theory implies, but in PhotoStitch changing this alters the two borders slightly and moves missing areas to where the cloning is easier regarding image content.

Try EXIF MAKER V2.21 in DigitalFilm 1.65, the editor tool will help you modify or delete EXIF data without demage image.

In Photoshop the "save for web" function removes all the EXIF info. "Save As" keeps it.
