This morning during a location shoot, we were moving from one spot to another and as we turned to leave, a beam of light fell across the model's face.

I loved the look of it, and asked her to stop right there while I tried to catch it with the camera.

What do you think, does this work?

It is one of her favorites from the session and I am on the fence. I wish I had turned her a bit more to the left so it fell more evenly.

This was a no-flash ambient light portrait.

It appears that the ambient light was interrupted by nearby foliage. Your own comments seem to confirm that.

There are some real artists with Photoshop that could probably do whatever they wanted to do to make the illumination more uniform - I wouldn't even try!

Even thought there is a case for a more uniform illumination, there is nothing that wrong with the way it came out. In fact, it is very, very nice.

You can add richness to the colour and contrast to the image you already have, or you can even out the light. Here are samples of what I would do. Personally, I prefer the richer tone in the broken light. Without actually seeing the model colour is a best guess.

I pinked up her lips in the evened out light shot (of course that was a personal tweak :))
