On a side note... Why stack 'em? If you have a UV and CPL take the UV off and put the CPL on as the UV is pretty useless for protection if you have the CPL on top.

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as its not a slim filter (let me clarify that...you can stack a slim B+W CPL filter provided its the outermost filter in the stack due to it not having any front threads). I'm not aware of any issues that would prevent stacking, other than a manufacturing defect, even with a different brand of filter...threads sizes are pretty much standard across the board. To be sure, try it with one of your UV filters (assuming that you have one).

I've actually stacked an ND and CPL together and no problems. It may not be something you would do everyday but, alot of the famous landscape photogs do this all the time for a certain effect.

I have B+W 77MM UVA and a CP (slim version)...both are brass construction. When I stacked them I could not get them seperated again. So, I ordered a filter wrench from B+H and that solved the problem. I think the problem was I could not get a good grip on the slim CP.

Lesson learned...don't stack unless you have a filter wrench in your bag. Now when I use my CP I remove the UVA first abd store it in the CP case.

You could certainly stack filters - I don't myself - so long as you don't vignette, and as Jim points you have filter wrench just in case. But keep in mind, the more glass you add on top of your lens, the greater the possibility for introducing a random reflection, flare, or even aberration.

I use only the filter I need. Hey Jim, how do I get that 20% IHOP discount? :D- Stu
