Nice images. Though side-by-side comparisons would make for a better challenge. :)

How many frames per second can that thing do?
What about auto-white balance?
Can it do JPG?
How many pics fit on a 1-Gig CF card?
Where's the hotshoe?
:-)

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

LOL!

What I want to know is does it have AI tracking?

I had a read of the site, its just a very large, large format film camera.
The digital side of things comes from the scanner technology being used to create the digital images from the film negative.

So long and thanks for all the flash

They are just scanning film, so it's not really a digital camera. But in either case I'm 99.99% sure the picture quality will absolutely blow away anything available in an SLR type camera picture for picture.

Should I mention that I am not impressed by these small time efforts at image size and resolution. Only a gigapixel, no competition... 8)

On the other hand they can show the pictures they took.

[Inside joke for those that know me]

From: http://www.gigapxl.org/faqs.htm (external link)

What about "spy-satellite" cameras? The digital imaging systems in $200M-$1000M advanced imaging satellites are roughly comparable to the Gigapxl™ camera in resolution. However, they are far from commercially available, require the cold of space for low-noise operation, are about the size of a school bus, and, of course, are very expensive and often contain classified technologies. These cameras are also not optimized for normal color imaging. Such devices, even if made available by a friendly national power, could not be transported to the cities and photogenic sites of the earth as is required by the goals of the Gigapxl™ Project.

:D

So long and thanks for all the flash

Heheheh, the little black thing on the top of the camera is a 35mm film camera, kind of gives a nice point of reference.

I think someone needs to introduce them to noise reduction software.
