Hello everyone, after spending the last three weekends researching about lenses for my one month old Rebel XSI, I have finally decided to purchase EF-S 17-55 this afternoon along with a B+W UV filter this afternoon.
(Quite expensive here in Canada, total bill for both items came to $1450, girlfriend will not be impressed after i tell her, guess i will tell her that she will look even more beautiful in the photos now)

This was the most humorous, yet convincing, assessment that I have read. But I have to admit that I have no clue what are those fancy charts in other formal technical reviews anyways.
Back to the main topic. Has anyone experienced a strange sound when IS is turned on? There is a humming or rotating noise when the shutter is half-way depressed, and this noise continues for about a second or two even after the shutter is released.
