I'm sorry. I guess I can be immature at times. I am only 18, but that's no excuse. I just thought the name fit nicely and it would draw attention to the thread.

Well, you certainly succeeded. And don't worry....we were all 18 once. You just haven't been fully exposed to political correctness yet.

Put it this way. Photography can be a controversial industry, considering most people sell there photo's to be part of advertising, and therefore words are associated with pictures. If Calvin Klien didnt put a controversial mix of words with pictures then he wouldnt be rich and he wouldn't employ so many photographers. So if he didnt attract so much attention through means which might seem not acceptable, then he wouldnt be selling all his clothing and stuff. So I think its somewhat part of the industry although I personally dont agree with such material...but hey thats life.

PS: pcasciola, good analysis, we just discussed that in law class hehe, im surprised i didnt catch that.

dsze, don't get your panties in an uproar man! There are NO groups safe from comedic butts of jokes... none.

I thought the title was funny...

And I love the photos by the way! Sweet. I love photos of old closed-down buildings. It makes me wonder what happened, all the history that went on, etc.

I really like the picture of the sliding board and the covered walkway. The title of the thread did
not offend me, but you should have known it would have offended somebody. Hope you learned a
lesson from this.

I too like the pictures and though I often wonder how certain things would look in B&W I think the color images work better here. It adds to the drabness, the isolation or desertion.

As for the title, I have to agree. I have a relative who became very, very ill as an infant. The cause was never identified but she nearly died. She survived but with brain damage. She is marginally functional. She didn't ask for this to happen to her and it's made her life very hard at times. I don't think she'd appreciate the reference. I sure didn't.

Thanks for stopping in and having a look.

....Just don't die; being 18 is nothing to appologize for. I am sorry if I came across a little harsh. The images work nicely. You just have to remember that I work 10hrs/day advocating and teaching kids with disabilities. Sometimes it seems that they just take everyone else's crap and never quite know how to defend themselves...so, I guess I just assume that responsibility when I can. ...anyway, my appologies if I came across too harshly.

I was worried that the former title might offend some of the members whose families have been touched by mental retardation and/or related disabilities.

I've now heard from a couple members who in fact were very offended by the former title. Accordingly, I have changed it.

This does not detract from the photographs. That portion of the thread will not be altered, nor will any of the previous discussion regarding the former thread title. From this point forward, please limit your comments to just the photographs.

Anyone taking exception to this action may send me a PM to express your opinion. We won't be discussing it in the open thread.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Tom

Thanks Tom. You could have done it sooner as far as I'm concerned. Those of us who have been around for a little while understand the the quality of people here. I don't like to think what any new visitors thought if they happened to catch this thread on their first trip to the site. Maybe nothing but it would have turned me off.
