No matter what lens, what focal lenght I use, my 580EXII always says 14mm.

The F-stop is always correct, but the 14mm never changes?

Does it on both camera's also.

Is that normal?

if you have that flash head in any position other than pointed and locked forward then it would stay whatever mm it was set to.

Oh yeah, should have mentioned that. That's with it all the way in the foward position. The flash gives you that little icon on the display to signify it's locked.

...if you have the built in diffussor pulled out then it will lock onto 14mm. Make sure it's pushed all the way in. (Not in use)

Make sure the wide-angle panel is not pulled out at all.

If it says 14mm, you have the wide angle lens down. Flip it back up and push it back into the head.

If you DON'T have the wide angle lens down, you have a problem!

Be sure that BOTH diffusers are pushed all the way home, if either is pulled out only slightly the flash will go to M 14mm.

Spend the afternoon at a mountain bike race, trying to figure out what was going on.
