Just some pricing help from the pro's....

If your doing a commercial product shot and due to cables, props to place the items at certain angles etc there are some shadow and other editing the client wants you to PS out, what would a fair average price be per hour or per photo.

Usually my clients Graphics department handles most editing of this nature but the new client is short staffed and wants me to do it...

Is $40-$45 and hour fair?

I have a friend who is a graphic artist here and he charges almost 200 an hour for processing pictures in photoshop. Just to give you an idea.

There are several websites that will retouch your photos for you and they seem to charge anywhere from a few dollars for basic touch ups to anywhere over 10 to 20 dollars an image for more elaborate work.

I'd charge 1/2 my photography rate, so $100-$200/hr.

I really gotta raise my rates!

Just because I charge something doesn't mean I get it. Sometimes my rates are set to discourage people from asking me to do something. Commercial is different to weddings too, I include processing in my wedding prices.

You could also just go the per-job rate way instead of hourly. That way you can get things done and call it a day, first few may be longer but after doing the same things a bit you'll be happy to have gone fixed rate.
