question about 430ex off camera hookup

ok so i just purchased 2 pocketwizards and waiting for them to arrive. and this is what one pocket wizard comes with.... PC-1 Miniphone to PC Cable.... so since i ordered 2 pocketwizards i will have two cables. Right now my plans are to use on pocket wizard on my camera as the transmitter, then the second one connected to my flash. how does the pocket wizard connect to my 430ex? with this pc 1 miniphone to pc cable? or do i need another cable? also same question on my camera... it will be right on my camera hot shoe, do i still need to connect it another way? i also noticed on my 430ex there is a tab that i pulled open and it seems to be a metal plate inside that is threaded, what is this for? if someone can provide pics on the hook up of this set up it would be great thanks

This is what you'll need to hook the PW up to your 430EX.

Flashzebra is out of stock, but any good hotshoe to miniphone adapter will work. B&H and Adorama have them as well, but I only have experience with the flashzebra one.

The PW will mount directly to the hotshoe of your camera.

The little threaded plate is simply a bracket hook-up fitting.

you can use a hot shoe to hot shoe adapter that has a pc output like this:

flash mounts to adapter, pc cable connects adapter to receiver. the transmitter mounts on the camera hot shoe. no cable needed there.

btw i've wondered what that "tab" was for on my 430 also. i assumed canon just used the same shell as the 580ex II which has a pc out untill i saw one in person and the whole thing is much larger.

The threaded hole in the EX flashes is used to attach the flash to Canon's SB-E1 flash bracket. It's not much good for anything else as far as I can tell.

thanks pace for the answer on that. it looks kinda crappy because seems to be only 2 threads on that thing... cant wait for my pocket wizards to arrive
