50D Body in stock at Berger Bros. Located in New York, but they ship nationwide as well (USA)

I called Berger Bros. on Friday (bought my 40D there) and was told that was in error. They expected kits on Monday but had no info on the body only arrival. Hope to hear from them tomorrow on clarification.

I seriously thought about buying the 24-70mm f/2.8L over the 24-105mm f/4L, but I bought the latter because I thought it would be a bit more practical than the 24-70 as a 'walk around' lens due to the slightly longer focal range. Moreover, the 24-105 has gotten some really good reviews and friends who use the 24-105 recommended it highly. :)

You're making a good choice, the 24-105 is a really great all-around lens. Enjoy it!

Please let us know what you find out. I ordered a 50D body from them based on their website saying "in stock."

I'd have said 17-55 IS over 24-105 but 24-105 does offer a lot more at the tele end if that's your thing. Nice setup! Now find a Korean duck and post some samples :) (longstanding tradition here of duck shots as first post with new gear).

Thanks! I also have the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens. As for the duck... can't break tradition! Looks like a duck 'hunt' is in order!

I still have heard nothing from Berger Bros. with another followup email this morning. I will let you know if I hear anything a would like to know if you get a shipping notice of any kind.

I'll let you know if they give me any kind of shipping notice...I'm going to call tomorrow. It seems like this "in stock" thing was kind of a gimmick to get people to order, since they don't technically have any in stock. If I call tomorrow and they don't have them in (or expect to get them in by Tuesday), I'll probably cancel. I have another preorder through Amazon, and I'm starting to thing that I might be more comfortable sticking with them. I've never done business with Berger Bros before...

I also have a backup at Amazon (since September 2nd.) Berger Bros was fine with my order on the 40D but I am surprised to see the note still saying In Stock when a rep told me they had none and didn't know why it was posted.

I was planning on calling tomorrow too. If, like you, they don't have a definate answer tomorrow, I'll cancel my order and go elsewhere. They shouldn't have listed what they DID NOT have.

I just called them again. He said the kits are coming in today and he's not sure about the body only. They'll give me a call when they find out more info later today.

I talked with Lisa and they will get shipments today at about 2-3 o'clock. They had put that notice up on Friday because the web staff does not work on the weekend and wanted it to be good this AM. I ordered the Body Only and it should be here on Wednesday. They are a small business but provide excellent service an support. Hope everyone gets their units quickly...:-)

My local camera store (Rowe Photo) just called and said they have four 50D kits with 18-200 lens that just arrived (Sept 29, 2008).

I just talked to them as well. The guy I spoke to said they got bodies and kits today, but wasn't sure whether mine would ship out today since they aren't sure how many they got in. He assured me that Lisa would contact everyone with orders for 50Ds to let them know their order status sometime today.
