by the way the 50D costs just a bit much

i guess there is not officially the price
but compare to the D90 seems to cost too much
yep i know it's 15mp , but sincerely do you need 15mp ?

They're not really comparable - ISO, AF, MP, fps, they aren't even in the same class.

I agree, the D90 really competes with the XSi.

They compete - and yes, price is a feature.

I haven't read the entire thread, so i apologize if this is a duplicate:

This looks like a Canon Europe sponsored spot for the 50D featuring the Swede. Its English language.

The end of that video cracked me up. "Nearly anybody can take a good wildlife photograph with this camera, and as a professional - that scares me!"

I actually laughed out loud!

Shoot, well looks like a time for an upgrade from the old 30D. I was going to go 1dIII but might hold off if the 50D is to be all the hype.

They are going to compete,
Right now you can get a brand new D300 from 42nd Street Photo for $1449 (Ive used them before and never had a problem) If the 50D is introduced between $1399 and $1499 body only it will loose a lot of new buyers to the D300. If your starting a new system what would draw you to the 50D over the D300. On paper there is nothing, the D300 outclasses it in almost every way.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

The 50D might first come out at $1399, but I'm guessing that it will drop to $1299 in the first month and $1199 before xmas.

I believe that $1450 price on a D300 at 47st is without a US warranty, the lowest with a US warranty is about $100 more.

Even if its $100 more for the D300, when a new purchaser is standing at the B&H counter with both in hand, for only $100 more than the canon you get pro AF, weather sealed body, flash commander mode, wider bracketing with more exposures, better auto ISO, etc etc. I like my canon camera but if I was starting fresh it would be very hard to resist the Nikon.
