Hi all,

Well , this is my very first upload of anything I have taken; guess I'm just too nervous because of the quality on here! Anyhow, this is my first attempt at macro, well I assume it counts as macro anyway!

Any c&c welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I like the subject very much. There's a great opportunity here too shoot some interesting macro's.

The second, imo, is the best, although not really macro. But its a good close-up with interesting colours and a good compo.
The first is more like a macro, but it's just not sharp. Try using a tripod or faster shutter speeds if you can.

that first one is best IMO shows your DOF well, but would be really good with a small spider on that rusty nail head! :-)

Hey all,

Thank you for the positive comments. The first one isn't quite as sharp as it should be, that's me learning that when you're close up all the tiny little movements get magnified! I didn't realise that ~ but I do now!

Thanks again

I like the first one also.
Why:
A nice flow from top left to bottom right.
Lovely colour gradient.
Good leading lines.
The hair (or whatever that is) adds to the texture and interest.

What's not great about it, is that focus is slightly out for the main subject, which I take as being the head of the bolt.

The second shot is a little humdrum.

Wish I'd have found something very similar to #1 when I had to shoot "Rust" as a camera club theme a couple of months ago...

Quite nice!
