I had a shoot this weekend with several models and Ashley's headshots came out great. C&C welcome.

Brian,
I think it looks good... but I am not found of the harsh shadow. For me it is close but not 100%.

+1

Way too much shadow for that type of shot.

Here is another one from that setup. Maybe it works better in this one for you.

For me, she is using her eyes for effect, but there is no detail there, this may overcome the deep shadows that others have mentioned.

What do you do about that with a model with very dark eyes? I can't make naturally dark eyes brighter unless I completely fake it in photoshop. How would you fix that?

I don't know about the eyes, but I love the lighting, specially on the second pic where the shadows aren't too strong... good work!

Thanks Joel.

I guess I feel like as long as you don't lose all the detail in the shadows, then you can have a pretty high contrast between the main light side of the model and the other side. It's a lot more dramatic than just flattening out the image with little shadow. Even on the first image you can clearly see the definition of the jaw line and cheek as compared to the neck. To me as long as you don't lose the details it is okay for the darker shadows. Opinions vary, I guess.

It may be the compression, but I find her face very soft in both shots... Her eyes are really oof... With head shots, I'd like to see sharp detail--particularly in the eyes.

I too don't care for the harsh shadows.
