For a fake crime scene session.

Is the fake Halloween blood sufficient for photography or is there something better to use?

Anyone have any experience with shooting fake blood?

How much do you need? If you need quite a lot, you might want to try a theatrical supply store.

I have a few pints, but don't ask where I got it from. I will email you the release forms you need to sign, as these are considered biohazard (were not AIDS tested, or HEP A B C and all that good stuff). That being said, knock yourself out !!

What mark said sounds good. You might as well forego the ketchup, sauce and syrup myths. Best of luck :)

I have seen a lot of recipes, but I wasn't sure which photographs the best!

Corn Syrup + Red Food Coloring...

Straight Red for fresh blood
Red + some Blue for blood that's begun to dry
Red + lots of Blue (toward Black) for very dried blood

[EDIT] For blood that runs into nooks and crannys well, cut the Corn Syrup with some water. It can be a touch thick straight from the bottle...

Never tried it!.. Good to know for next time I need a few days off, and spewing blood seems to impress my coworkers. Thx.

you ever see the EVIL DEAD movies? i believe the above recipe is what they used. The actor is Bruce Campbell and i read in his book about the fake blood. but if it sets up real long it hardens.

The Corn Syrup (or Karo Syrup) and food coloring is a pretty standard SFX brew...

I'm sure there are off the shelf synthetic blood products too...
