Well it looks like I will be getting a 50D as my firsts DSLR

I just have to figure out one thing. Since the 50D supports UDMA CF cards, I would just like to know which one between these two is best.

Lexar UDMA 300X pro or the Sandisk 300x Ducati.

ONE 8GB ONLY.

Thx

I would suspect that it won't be too long now and you will have more choices. At least I hope so at their prices!!!

I would guess would be extremely reliable.

*yawn*

I use Sandisk Ultra II cards (as does many, many pros around the world) and they still perform flawlessly. If you upgrade from Ultra II's, you would be at Extreme III. Then if you upgrade from Extreme III's, you are at Extreme IV's. And you are asking about cards even faster than all those? My question is: Why? There's no need. Just wasted money on highly marketed "super duper" items. You can spend less than $100 and have plenty of Sandisk brand cards that will do everything you need them to do. Don't take my word for it.... ask around. Be a smart shopper. :)

get an extreme III 2008 edition, better memory controller than even the ducati. For all except FW800 it'll be just as fast.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

8GB Ducati...all the way! I use 8GB/4GB SanDisk IV and they never let me down. I sold the five 2GB SanDisk IV I had and replaced them with the current three 8 SD IV and two 4GB SD IV. Once the 50D comes out. I will probably get three more 8GB SD IV.

Sandisk.

My first cards were Lexar. Both died during the same baseball game right before the big recall.

I will only buy Sandisk now. Sandisk has worked perfectly for me, never a single problem. I need to be able to trust my media.

Only the SanDisk Extreme IV and up are UDMA compliant in their line up.

Looks like they finally added a 16GB Extreme IV card:

Now just have to wait for the price to not be insane (keeping in mind that the 16GB Extreme III I just bought will be $80 after rebate). Of course it looks like 32GB Extreme III cards are also on their way at similarly insane prices.

Might also want to get more than just one. I would say 2-3 for most people but if you are shooting a lot 5-6 would be more useful. :)

Nice...$325 each...with the 50D you can probably store 550 raw shots.
