I have a friend, a good one whom I have "forced" into photography.

Love the 1st shot.. very moody and 'real'.. if that makes sense.
2nd shot has better lighting but the expression is better in the first.

1st shot looks very candid and for me, I love candid shots. Like he just appeared with a camera and that's what she was doing. Nice!

I like them...like the expression in the first and lighting in the 2nd, although i think they are both nice shots.
