You probably should search the other threads and read the sticky, and also give us more info about your needs. What's your budget? Do you need something big and stable, or something you can travel with? Even telling us how tall you are can be useful, as it's always nice to have a tripod that you can get to eye level.

You can spend anywhere from $30 to $1000 on tripods. With that kind of range, you've got to give a little more info on what you want it to do and what you can spend.

How much weight are you willing to carry?

You get to have light, cheap and stable tripods - pick any two but you can't have all three. Presuming you wanted stable then it matters how much weight you want to carry.

The closest thing for what you want is the Manfrotto 3021 and the Manfrotto 488RC2 ballhead. It isn't light, but it is stable and it is inexpensive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he mentioned he had an HF10, which I think means we're talking about video. A ball head isn't the right choice for that, right?

The 055 series, such as the 055XDB or 055XPROB, is probably a good leg choice, except that it doesn't travel as easily.

Yeah, you're on a photo forum, so here we're all used to talking about avoiding even the slightest little movement. In our world, you can't get a tripod that is solid, light, and will both fold down to a small size but also come up to eye level for someone who is 6' 2" in your budget.

In the video world though, I think vibration isn't quite as critical. One issue that we have in the photo world is that while the center column on a tripod can be used to get it up to eye level, it compromises stability. Maybe on video that isn't as critical. If so, then I think you can find plenty of tripods that will get up to eye level but still fold down to a size you can travel with. Plus, if your camcorder has a flip out LCD screen, eye level may not be as critical.

But I really don't know, I'm not a video guy either. You may want to search some video forums and see what they like there. But I will say this much. Bogen/Manfrotto is very well regarded as a mid-grade tripod, and they have several video heads available. They also have a $25 rebate through the end of this month if you buy an aluminum tripod + one of their heads together. The 190 series is smaller and lighter, but doesn't go up as high. The 055 series goes higher, but doesn't fold up as small and can be a bit heavier.
