Yep I still have two 20Ds and a 5D, they all take great photos. I figure when the shutter quits or something, I will go with whatever is the latest model at that time. With 27000+ actuations on the older 20D, I figure maybe a 60D when this one fails.

Please speak slowly and distinctly. I have a wife and a computer, I don't need any more confusion in my life.

I wanted to be a nude photographer, but when I went outside naked, everyone pointed and laughed, so I gave it up.

In my opinion the usability of the 30D over the Rebel line is superb.
You learn to use the two dials and six buttons under thumb and forefinger,
and you just bang out the settings from scene to scene.
When they go on the used market as two generations old they will be a great value.
The potential compared to the 50D will be to save near a grand on a cam
and use the dough to get an L w/ IS...

I'm sure the 50D will be great, but people need to remember the older gen xxd camera's still take great photos.

Exactly. My 20D is still serving me quite well!!

Sounds like you'll have plenty of options upgrading from your xti. Only your budget will limit you.

I'm sure the 50D is gonna be really nice and have advantages over the 30D. But personally I'd rather get a 5D rather than buy another 1.6 crop body. I guess I could sell off my 30D and put that money towards a 50D. Then I think to myself.... man I'd really rather have the versatility of a 5D and a crop body!

I've only been a canon shooter for a couple years now but I wouldn't have guessed the 50D would come out so quickly. And there is speculation on the 60D. I would have thought the 5D mkII would have squeezed in there.

I have a 5D(under 1400 actuations) and a 30D(under 700 actuations) even if the 50D spit out a $20.00 bill after every picture. I'm happy with what I have. :):):)

Ok now all we need is a "50D vs EOS D30" thread and were set.

yeah, i was going to say... But as far as cameras, I honestly think my 20d is better than my 40d. But then the Nikon is better as far as using a flash, but worse in noise....but my teenagemutant ninja turtle camera (1989?) was better than them all in simplicity...

canon weight ;)

I have a 20D and love it - I had no trouble resisting the30D whatsoever, but the 40D was a harder choice. In the end I decided that as I was not maxing out the capabilities of the 20D at my current useage rate and skill level, there was little point - so i bought lenses instead.

The 50D looks wonderful - but my useage and skill level still don't justify a body change, other than a simple 'I want one' !

And there are still a couple of lenses I want before I'll consider a body upgrade.

Being a studio owner with 2 locations, I have tons of wedding albums out there that were shot with a 20D, lots more with a 30D, last 2 years with a 5D.

I sure hope all those earlier albums don't want a remake cuase they were not shot with the latest thing on the table. If you have a 20D, 30D, 40D, or even a Rebel and it fits your needs, use it. I have a 24x30 print hanging in my house that was shot on the lowly 20D. Still looks great!
