I'm looking for a battery pack for the 383 Super that:

- reduces recycle times to 3 sec. max

- takes NiMH rechargeable AAs

- does not cost much more than the Canon CP-E4 (~$200 max)

Is there anything out there infotoland that meets these needs? I tried searching POTN, but could take only 20 minutes before my head starting becoming clogged w/ numbers, soldering techniques and stories of Tim getting shocked.

yes there is a Quantum Turbo Battery pack. Not in the price range that you want, but it is a battery pack for the Sunpak 383

Yes I ran across that one...I suppose that would be a last resort but for $500 I can almost get another 580ex and CP-E4

I have an NiMH Sunpak battery pack for the 383 that I don't use, mainly because it doesn't have a charger - which is available from B&H for $50. I don't want to bother getting the charger, and a transformer to use it on 240V. I might sell it. PM me if you're interested.

btw my sealed lead acid battery pack may have fried a 383, I have to look into it, i'll post on my original 383 modification thread once I get around to it.

I think that you can also use the battery pack with the 580EX... just need to buy the correct cable for the Canon. So you can look at it as a 2 for 1;)
