Old Truck....

While out on a little photo shoot this morning with the boys, I found this old truck in my uncles field... Thought I'd try something a little different by changing it to B&W and by shooting on part of the grill... C&C welcome....

Thanks TwoShot.. Yeah it's a Mercury mid 50's maybe??

Well I learned something new today. I didn't know there was such a thing as a Mercury truck but I Googled and found they were manufactured in Canada from 1946 until 1968.

I learned that recently too when I came across this Mercury.

I can't remember, anymore, but I grew up close to the Canadia border, and there are/ were a number of older cars and trucks that were named differently if made in Canada. At least some of the Pontiacs came with Chivy engines--and I'm speaking here before the great GM V8 switch in the '80's. Dodges were Fargo? Seems to me there were certain differences in certain Ford products. THAT was a long time ago.

Last summer I got a chance to go for a ride in an interesting Model T, that was made and sold in Canada. I had no idea they were, back in those days. It had the word "Canada" in permanent letters on the running board, as well as cast into the cylinder head.

The enterprizing owner of this thing had added an overdrive, as well as a modified aftermarket engine housing up front which allows the use of a generator and distributor. (Original T's had no distributor, rather a "low voltage timer" and "spark coils" and the generator, such as it was, was built into the flywheel
