What exactly is a RAW converter?

bringing this up,

i just got a 20D and started shooting in raw

the computer (win XP) wont let me see the raw files, and i cant even import them into lightroom

any help please?

Try using a Card-reader.

Direct-connect Camera to PC is not the most reliable method... trust me. This question has come up 3 times this past week alone.
