When do you expect the 40D kit price to drop again?

I know that the price really pretty much stayed the same after the rebates ended, but I'm looking for the kit to drop under $1000 before I take the jump on my first DSLR. I really prefer how the 40D handles as compared to the Rebel series. Any thoughts on when it could occur? I'm guessing right after the 50D comes out...

Hey, I just upgraded from a Canon Powershot S2 IS to a 40D. It hasn't arrived yet, but I ordered mine through Microsoft Live Search. You get cash back when you search from the site (the amount you get depends on which merchant you buy from). I bought mine from J&R for $1000 (regular price $1140, $136 cash back, free shipping, no tax). I know that's not under $1000 but a good deal if you're impatient like I was!

Hmmmm... Now THERE's a thought. However, after discussing it with my hubby, I'll probably wait closer to Christmas. Then it will be a birthday/Christmas gift in one.
