Anyone using Canon ST-E2 transmitter for off camera flash in basketball games ???

I am very happy with my Cacyus V2s reliability but I need to sync at high speed hence my question.

Is there any alternative except the expensive Pocket Wizard???

I don't need ETTL just high speed sync.

I don't think the ST-E2 is a vaiable choice as it does not bounce very well. A regulation ball with proper PSI is better.

Where exactly do you shoot that you're allowed to use flash?!? I have never seen a stadium that allows flash.

A pocket wizard won't give you high speed sync...only up to the camera's max 1/250.

The ST-E2 (or a second 580) will give you the ability to use HSS remotely...but note that HSS does greatly limit your working distance. This set up would also be limited by the IR connectivity which might not be a factor indoors, but outdoors it would probably require line-of-site.

Thy are expensive. Maybe the jr. when they are available and if they can sync at high speed with my Canon.

Are you aware of how Canon's ETTL "high speed sync" really works? What it does is emulate a conventional (non-flash) light source by emitting a fast series of very weak flash pulses for the duration of the shutter's movement.

Most folks only use it for flash fill in bright lighting situations.
