Focus testing on a 400mm

What is the best way to test focusing of a 400mm lens?

Just go take some normal shots with it...

I guess what I am asking is can this chart be used to test longer telephoto lenses or is it just for testing more standard lenses?

Yeah, you can, but I don't see the point.

Well, you'd have to be 11.5 feet from the chart so that might make it a little difficult.

Just go outside and find some birds to shoot. If you are having problems getting sharp in focus pictures, then we'll talk. But in the meantime, just enjoy your new toy

If you really want to test it, then pin a playing card to a fence and take a shot of it from a distance. You should get a nice crisp shot out of it.

The best test is to use it normally. Only start analytical testing if you find that you're consistantly missing focus.
