Hi All,

Here's a few snaps from Brands today...

#1 - Three abreast into Druids...

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3026/2808271603_76bb0fd690_o.jpg

#2 They were still putting the new fence in uptowards Druids when I arrived this morning - it might be difficult to get this angle in the future

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3285/2808271751_e22ee0c2b0_o.jpg

#3 - Not sure if I like the branch in the foreground - what do you think?

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3080/2809121482_dafe2533f1_o.jpg

#4 - Sparky!

# 5 - Sparkier! (Bit annoyed I cropped off the back of the car)

#6 - Not so many flamethrowers this year

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3001/2808273769_37e7948fce_o.jpg

#7 - Pan time... yes I know the shutter speed could be slower!

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/2809122582_ea388ab5c5_o.jpg

# 8 - Startline shot..

Hope you enjoyed - let me know what you think.

Dave

I'm looking forward taking photos this week end. I like the DTM event.
My favourites are the sparkling # 4 and # 5.
Great job.

Cool sparking shots, nice catch! Usually they only do that on there first runs out, probably won't do it at all tomorrow or Sunday when I'm there lol :p

Whats this "new" fence up to Druids you mention? There's already fencing between the Bridge and Druids... ?

the fencing running from the outside of druids to the bridge has been moved backwards. So you now cant easily get the shot from under the bridge of the cars head on.

Thanks - 400d and 40d with 70-300 IS

Thanks Azza,

I was pretty impressed with some of the sparks coming off the Audis! They were running the front VERY low on the Red Bull cars!

They've also taken some pretty big scrapes out of the track at the bottom of Paddock HIll!

When I got there in the morning they were replacing the outer fence (the 4 strip wire jobby before you get to the catch fence proper. It meant you could get a really nice angle on the way up from Paddock to Druids as you could get much closer to the track :).

When I was leaving they had finished putting the new outer fence in, which runs much tighter to the entrance to the bridge from the outside to the Druids' infield (which was closed off  I hope it opens up at some point over the weekend!). It makes the shot from under the bridge towards Paddock a bit harder (but not impossible to get ;))

Nice series, Dave. I think the "branch" shot is actually my fave, it works for me.

#1 for me but the branch shot might grow on me (see what i did there ? ;) )

Now, for anyone attending the DTM on Sunday i need a favour.

I've just heard that there may not be any Grid Girls for the televised race...so some bright spark has suggested that the MSA Scrutineers do the job !!

A mate of mine is one of said Scroots so if anyone can grab some shots of these "Gentlemen" in order to supply me with some blackmail material it would be much appreciated.

:D

Edited to add -

Your target will be in front of Ralf Schumacher's car if it happens - i'll leave the obvious jokes out for legal reasons ;)

nice photo's one question, Brands has some lovely topography why over exagerated angles? Just makes it look too false when really that is a hell of a steep hill anyway number 2 and number 8 in reality is sloping away from you. Good shots just makes the circuit look odd. Shame about number 5 as that is a cracker.
Would have liked to have had my camera out too.
