Hi, there is a picture on the people board, but its been over a week ago, of a little girl holding a glowing orb. Does anyone know how to achieve this effect? I have CS3, just not very good yet. I recently took some pic of a little girl dressed as a fairy and that orb would have been wonderful. Any help appreicated.

Teeny:)

Can you post a link to it so we don't have to go hunting for the picture?

It's probably just a filter that renders stars. I seem to remember a plugin called "mystical" that I've used.

I hope this isn't too dark...Your photo was too bright for me so I fixed a few things. I brightened her beautiful eyes too.

Yeah sure...It was really easy.

I copy pasted your photo into a new document. I lightened the eyes with a curves adjustment set to mode Linear Dodge, a layer mask on top of that curves layer too.

Next I copy pasted a cool starry effect:

And I added a layer mask to that so it showed only what I wanted. I think I set that layer mode on Screen.

Then I darkened your fairy wings with another Curves adjustment layer (with layer mask of course).

In the end I applied a Sharpen filter which I faded to about 40%.

Some things that I would still change is the red color tint in the photo, and it would have been cool if you shot this with a grassy background (greens).

Have you considered just using a twinkle shaped brush? Might be an easier start than jumping into layer masks. If you want to PM me your email I can send the .abr file.
