It's a little dark and gloomy. Nice picture but I am not too sure they would want such a doom and gloom picture to hang in the office. Looks kind of depressing. Kind of like looking at a picture of a rainy day. Maybe if you could brighten it up a bit? Especially for a college PR office...

i like it, but you might want to try a reshoot on either a more sunny day or a more turbulant day... this one looks like it was just overcast, wich really reduces the "pop" i think you were going for. also, and this is just something i would do, is if you have some nd filters, try and make this a longer exposure to try and melt the water a little bit. it's just a personal choice, but i love long exposures over water! as far as i can tell you have the HDR pp thing down, though.

Looking at the histograms of the two versions, the pondfinal version is much the better version, as it has much, much more contrast with only a little blocking up of the deep shadows.

Both versions are rendered much too dark, as the histogram has no pixels with value greater than 214 in the brighter picture and no pixels with value greater than 170 in the darker version.

If we assume that the pondfinal version was intended to be on the dark side in order to set a dark mood, then it would be difficult to argue with the author. However, if image is intended to meet the normal aesthetic requirements of a full tone image, then in my opinion it is simply too dark.

I like it. I would however crop some of the murky water at the bottom and increase the brightness, through curves, of everything but the sky so it doesn't look so gloomy. But yes, its a nice shot. :D
