Hi all,

I just played with few images that I took today and created HDR. The only thing I did in Photoshop was to remove the buildings at the background. It's not great job but it's okay for someone who's still learning Photoshop.

What do you think of it ?

I don't like it. The colours are too vivid and unrealistic and the halos are distracting.

I don't think this is a true HDR image by the way - looks like a jpeg that's been tonemapped too much. True HDR would be several images at different exposures blended together.

Some people like highly processed effects like me but I'm not one of them I'm afraid.

Thank you guys for your comments. I've actually wanted it to look like a drawing or not realistic. But as Tony said, practice makes masters :)

Everything looks very nice until you get down to the foreground, and there we are struck by the off-color hedge.

Were it not for that I would find the HDR work as acceptable, if you like that effect. Some do and some do not. I personally like it for correcting HDR problems and sometimes the effect is very positive, but other times it seems overdone.

Thank you Bob, I will try to mask out the foreground and have more realistic green colour than what's above. :)

First off - knowing that the effect was what you were after, I will not even mention that. After all, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess - right?

BUT, if you want it to be the best presentation of this you still need to work on the halo issue. See, there is a very noticable halo around most of the building, and around the statue in front. Take care of that, and I think you will have a shot worth looking at.

Also, just to humor me, your total contrast is very minimal. Once you are done with the halos, try duplicating the layer and set the blend mode to "Soft Light". I am curious as to how that might look.

I think there may be some continuing issues relative to a halo here or there, but the green shrubbery in the foreground has now been tamed. Thanks!

Yeah, my Photoshop skills suck. I tried the burn tool, the layer mask which didn't help, and cloning tool as well. :) Glad that the picture has improved a little bit though.

Second one is much better.

I think you did a good job considering the original image was a difficult one to start with. It would be good to see your third HDR attempt now :)
