Anyone know of anywhere that stocks the above, either in or of similar quality to the Hoya Pro 1D series at a reasonable price?

Cheaper to spend three quid on a 49->52mm step up ring and get a 52mm Hoya Pro1 CPL from hvstar.net assuming the 1.5mm step-up increase in radius doesn't interfere with the hood on whatever lens it is you've got (Oly by any chance?) I've been shooting Oly wide angle primes on my 5D...picked up a 49mm CPL from 2filter.com. Couldn't tell you who in the UK would have them. If I had to take a guess, I'd say that 2filter would ship international. Here's the link to their B+W page: "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son". - Dean Wormer

Aug 31, 2008 10:33 | #7 I've found UK suppliers that fit my budget for CPLs. I can get a Pro 1D or a B+W `MRC' for the same price. [SIZE=1]ms-imaging

In addition to being a personal preference, the coatings on the Hoyas have been reported in this forum, and others, as very difficult to clean. Not to mention that certain Hoya polarizers (can't recall the specific model number) sometimes come apart unexpectedly due to a faulty retaining ring. More info | Sep 01, 2008 03:41 | #9 Hoya UVs are a royal pain to clean but I have no more trouble wet cleaning my Hoya Pro1 polarizers as I do my B+Ws. I find isopropyl alcohol solution, lens tissue and patience the most effective way of removing the cleaning streaks. Andy Brown; South-east England. Canon, Sigma, Leica, Zeiss all on Canon DSLRs.
