i cheated and caught her in a cup, so that i can get a picture of her face. Was kinda worried about her web close to my door anyways.

let her go afterwards at the far corner of my yard.. maybe she'll even be able to rid me of some flys.

man, just goes to show you how much of a newbie i am. I wasn't even looking for dust.

just went to see the lens, and sure nuff, there's a few that were clinging onto the front element. with the Tamron 90, the barrel is so deep, that i wouldn't have ever noticed.

Is she classified as a Brown Widow? Like this? (external link) They are actually an introduced species, and are timid in comparison to the "black" version. Beautiful girl, BTW!

That's right. My bad. Tired. I remember seeing a whole bunch, like 6 -8 nests of these things. All you saw were the males though. Huge things!

As already pointed out above, that is not a black widow female. Female black widows are jet black with the orange hourglass on their back, and they never nest in the open. You have to turn over a rock, an old board, etc to find them.

Regardless, that is a nice shot, even with the little bits of dust.

Very cool shots.

I am new to photography and hope to take some shots like this of the spiders that frequently show up in my garage.
