Singapore Air Force Open House

Hey guys! Here's a series of shots from the Singapore Air Force open house. I went with a 30D, 400D, 17-40L & 55-250mm. The telezoom helped for static shots but couldn't keep up with the fast planes at all, so I didn't post them up. 250mm was too short, but that's the longest I could borrow from within my photographers' circle.

Aaaaand to top it off, a shot of Yours Truly, with a F16 from the Black Knights, a red&white version for use in aerial stunts.

(Yes, I know I look.. weird.. in that pic, heh)

I did some googling and found that the Singapore Air Force upgraded the F5 to the F5S, which is the one seen in the picture.

F-5S Upgraded version of the F-5E in use by the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Capable of firing the AIM-120 AMRAAM.

And thank you for the added info. Very interesting to see what "foreign" (to us in the US anyway...) variants are all about.

Love the frontal Apache shot and the rocket tubes. How did you process all the photos?

Haha, I wouldn't say that our modern aircraft are that different from the USAF. Other than us not owning F18 and F22 raptors, the only difference is that we upgrade our aircraft so that they can be more efficient in our weather, our location (Singapore is a small island ) and still be easily operated.

Thanks! I used LR2. Bumped up the contrast, clarity (think high-pass filter + contrast in photoshop), and some sharpening. 100% color noise reduction too (just because I cant stand colored specks ).

I was referring to the F5 only. I'm sure your F16s are very similar to ours.

Does Singapore operate A4S Skyhawks any more?

A4s were always one of my favorite aircraft.

When I was in the Air Force I TDY once to Luke AFB, Arizona and I worked side by side with the singapore crew stationed there. (The black Widows). We had a blast and lots of alcohol.

I still have their badges from where we exchanged some.

Great shots - like # 1 best. Oh! and great to see the the photog. too
