Hey guys! Here's a series of shots from the Singapore Air Force open house. I went with a 30D, 400D, 17-40L & 55-250mm. The telezoom helped for static shots but couldn't keep up with the fast planes at all, so I didn't post them up. 250mm was too short, but that's the longest I could borrow from within my photographers' circle.

Alright, enjoy the series:

Very, very nice...

Interesting to see F5s in front line service.

My Fav: The empty rocket launcher. Cool POV!

Thanks for the comment, FlyingPhotog. Glad you liked the photos =)

I did some googling and found that the Singapore Air Force upgraded the F5 to the F5S, which is the one seen in the picture.

And thank you for the added info. Very interesting to see what "foreign" (to us in the US anyway...) variants are all about.

Love the frontal Apache shot and the rocket tubes. How did you process all the photos?

Haha, I wouldn't say that our modern aircraft are that different from the USAF. Other than us not owning F18 and F22 raptors, the only difference is that we upgrade our aircraft so that they can be more efficient in our weather, our location (Singapore is a small island ;)) and still be easily operated.

EDIT @ casp3r:

Thanks! I used LR2. Bumped up the contrast, clarity (think high-pass filter + contrast in photoshop), and some sharpening. 100% color noise reduction too (just because I cant stand colored specks ;) ).

I was referring to the F5 only. I'm sure your F16s are very similar to ours.

Does Singapore operate A4S Skyhawks any more?

They were retired in March 05. Here's a story or two, if you're interested:

I saw a decommissioned static display back when I went for the Open House.

Cool...

A4s were always one of my favorite aircraft.

When I was in the Air Force I TDY once to Luke AFB, Arizona and I worked side by side with the singapore crew stationed there. (The black Widows). We had a blast and lots of alcohol.

I still have their badges from where we exchanged some.

IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow 8 embedded pics by the OP per thread, so I removed the IMG tags from the last ones. You can always just post a link to them, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each link.
