I have the Epson PictureMate Deluxe and it's very good. It's inkjet, but prints well. I have 2 of them for printing on site and can print from a card as well as connected to a laptop. The cost is around $.23 per 4x6 and is worth the money. I have an old Canon dye-sub printer, and that is good, too, but the paper can go out of alignment when printing sometimes and it's more expensive per sheet.

I'm looking to get a portable printer too.

I have looked around a bit for some reviews, but I didn't find many.

HP Photosmart A636 is getting a good review here:

There is also this Epson:

I don't care about the brand and I am willing to pay a bit more, but I want great prints.

btw. I read on Amazon that the Epson couldn't read cards larger than 2 GB.
If that really is the case, it's a huge problem.

I put larger cards on mine. I think I've printed off 4 GB cards, but really, you don't want anything larger than 2 GB anyway because the computer inside the printer has to read all the images before you can print them. I always rotate my 1 or 2 GB cards as I take the pictures through the printer. It takes too long otherwise. Every time you print one image from the card, you have to go through the whole thing again. So, I tend to print a series of images in a row. These printers are not made to print 200 images in a row, would take too long and would be cheaper to send it to Costco anyway for that many images. I only print 1-25 at a time when using it. Otherwise, I bring 2 of the PictureMates to the event.
